Fayetteville Board of Education
The meeting convened at 5:00 PM in the Adams Leadership Center with President Steve Percival presiding.
Roll was called and board members Shannon McCuin, Laura Underwood, Howard Hamilton, Steve Percival, Susan Heil, Malcolm McNair and Christine Bell were present.
Mike Gray, associate superintendent, reported that questionnaires had been sent to seven architectural firms and five responded. Of those five, three were selected to bring to the Board. Some of the criteria used in the selection process were experience with the construction management format, ability to meet construction schedules, proximity to the jobs and experience in educational projects.
Board president Steve Percival confirmed that the goal of the meeting is to rank the three architectural firms in order of preference and to authorize the construction manager and administration to begin contract negotiations, noting that if negotiations with firm #1 were not successful, firm #2 would then be consulted, etc.
The Board interviewed the architectural firms of Crafton, Tull & Associates, Inc., Hight-Jackson Associates, PA, and Amirmoez Foster Hailey Johnson.
Following discussion, Malcolm McNair made a motion to rank the architectural firms in the following order: Crafton, Tull & Associates, Inc., Amirmoez Foster Hailey Johnson, and Hight-Jackson Associates, PA and authorized the construction manager and administration to begin contract negotiations. Susan Heil seconded the motion, which passed by a 7-0 vote.
Howard Hamilton made a motion to adjourn. Laura Underwood seconded the motion, which passed by a 7-0 vote. The meeting adjourned at 9:00 PM.
