The meeting convened at 12:30 PM in the Adams Leadership Center with President Steve Percival presiding.
Roll was called and board members Laura Underwood, Malcolm McNair, Susan Heil and Steve Percival were present.
Dr. Lisa Morstad, chief financial officer, reported that the district is eligible to apply for Qualified Zone Academy Bonds. These are zero-interest bonds that are available to school districts that meet specific guidelines for the percentage of students eligible for free or reduced meals. Five elementary schools in the district would qualify under the program. Money from these bonds would be used to expand the Jefferson Pilot technology project, which places a desktop computer at each child’s desk. Dr. Morstad added that the district would save $2.2 million in interest by utilizing the QZAB bonds if all of the $4.8 million that the district is requesting is awarded. Malcolm McNair made a motion to approve the application for the Qualified Zone Academy Bonds. Laura Underwood seconded the motion, which passed by a 4-0 vote.
Laura Underwood made a motion to adjourn. Susan Heil seconded the motion, which passed by a 4-0 vote. The meeting adjourned at 12:39 PM.
