Minutes of the October 12, 2006 Special Meeting
The meeting convened at 12:00PM in the
Student Expulsions
Dr. Bobby New, superintendent, made the request for administration that the student expulsion hearings be closed. The Board convened in closed session at 12:04PM.
The Board reconvened in open session at 2:35PM.
Ginny Wiseman, associate superintendent for administration, made the recommendation from administration that Student A be expelled for the remainder of the 2006-07 school year. Christine Bell made the motion to uphold administration’s recommendation to expel Student A for the remainder of the 2006-07 school year. Laura Underwood seconded the motion, which passed by a 6-0 vote.
Ms. Wiseman made the recommendation from administration that Student B be expelled for the remainder of the 2006-07 school year. Howard Hamilton made the motion to uphold administration’s recommendation to expel Student B for the remainder of the 2006-07 school year. Susan Heil seconded the motion, which passed by a 6-0 vote.
Ms. Wiseman made the recommendation from administration that Student C be expelled for the remainder of the 2006-07 school year. Laura Underwood made the motion to uphold administration’s recommendation to expel Student C for the remainder of the 2006-07 school year. Christine Bell seconded the motion, which passed by a 5-1 vote.
Ms. Wiseman made the recommendation from the pre-expulsion hearing committee that Student D be expelled for the remainder of the semester. Dr. New added that administration also recommends that Student D be expelled for the remainder of the semester. Christine Bell made the motion to expel Student D for the remainder of the semester. Susan Heil seconded the motion. The motion failed by a vote of 4-2. Laura Underwood made the motion to uphold the recommendation of Fayetteville High principal Jim Price to expel Student D for the remainder of the 2006-07 school year. Howard Hamilton seconded the motion, which passed by a 4-2 vote.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:57PM.
