Technology and Management Information Systems
The technology department and MIS department consists of thirty employees: a director, MIS coordinator, systems engineer, two technology coordinators, twenty building level technology specialists, a repair coordinator, and four repair technicians. The department came into existence in 1995 with the hiring of the director and four coordinators.Since that time, a technology plan has been developed that sets the technology goals for the district. The first phase of the technology plan called for installation of a network infrastructure at the local and district level with access to the Internet. It also called for placement of a computer in every classroom and office. The second phase of the plan called for placement of computer labs in each building along with a written technology curriculum. The third phase of the plan is going into development at this time. This phase calls for enhancement to the network infrastructure, and placement of more computers and a presentation system in the classroom.
The mission of the technology department is to integrate appropriate technology to afford each student the opportunity to receive the highest quality education possible to compete in the 21st century.
Goals of the technology department include:
· Opening vast amounts of information to the students, staff, and faculty.
· Making learning more exciting and empowering students to take charge of their own learning and become a lifelong learner.
· Helping students become effective problem solvers and decision-makers, to realize their own potential and to become productive members of society.
