| Teacher Qualifications Statement: |
The Fayetteville Public Schools shall ensure that the percentage of core academic classes taught by highly qualified teachers in the district's schools is no less than 10 percentage points below the state's total percentage of core academic classes taught by highly qualified teachers.
POLICY: Full-time Fayetteville Public School teachers must hold a current Arkansas Department of Education teacher's license in Elementary, Secondary, or Adult Education.
Requirements to Teach in the Fayetteville Public School District:
1. Possess his or her bachelor's degree (or greater);
2. Obtained full state certification as a teacher or passed the state teacher licensing requirement;
3. Passed a rigorous state test that demonstrates his or her subject knowledge and teaching skills in reading, writing, mathematics and other areas of the basis elementary school curriculum. If the teacher is a new middle or high school teacher, he or she must have either passed a rigorous state test in each of the subject areas taught or have completed an undergraduate academic major (or equivalent coursework), a graduate degree, or advanced certification or credentialing in each of the academic subjects in which the teacher teaches; and
4. Meet highly qualified status. |
