Dorothy Lindquist Volunteer-of-the-Year Award

Dorothy Lindquist

The Dorothy Lindquist Volunteer of the Year Award is given annually in memory of one of the most caring and giving individuals ever to grace this earth. Dorothy Lindquist served as volunteer reading tutor at Root Elementary School for almost twenty years. This is after teaching in the Minnesota public schools for fifty years!

Dorothy was nominated by the Root PTO as one of their outstanding volunteers for five consecutive years before the Fayetteville School District created the Volunteer-of-the-Year Award and named it in her honor. Dorothy presented the first award to Pam Grondin in 2003 at the volunteer banquet. A decline in her health prevented her from attending future banquets, and Dorothy passed away in 2005. We remember her volunteer spirit each year in the presentation of the Lindquist Award.
