FPEF Grant Process - FAQ & Common Questions

 

When are the actual grants awarded?
Checks are written to the grant winners in early June. If you are chosen and need to receive your grant funds earlier than this date, please specify the reasons why in your grant application.

How many applications can I or my school submit?
Submit an application for every good idea that you think will benefit our students in the classroom. There is no limit.

Who decides who the winners will be?
Our grants and programs committee reviews all of the grants and makes recommendations to the foundation's board of directors. The board approves grant recipients at its April meeting.

Grant Seletion Criteria

Objectives and Focus:

• Appropriate goals and objectives
• Objectives compatible with the district's goals
• Focus on areas of math, science, language arts, social studies, fine arts, special projects
  
• Focus on improvement and innovation in Fayetteville Public Schools
  

Planning:

• Indication of advanced planning and preparation
  
• Realistic time lines
  
• Technology should be compatible with district programs. Check with your building or district technology person.
  

Budget:

• Justification of expenses for consumable materials
• Realistic budget
• Capital expenditures not approved
  
• Travel expenses allowed only to a limited degree

Evaluation:

• Evaluation methods designed to measure success

Innovation and Collaboration:

• Collaboration with appropriate personnel
• Innovative classroom projects
• Multi-classroom, multi-school projects

Impact:

• Number of students who will benefit (single class projects and/or special classes are not excluded because of size)
• Long-range impact
• Geographic distribution within the district
  
• Replication possibilities
  
• Drop-out rate reduction potentia
  
• Increased graduation rate potential
