With our girls bowling 2388 and boys at 2855 it is obvious we had a long way to go to the winners category. The struggle for the “ring” is worth the effort; persevere toward the top!

The highlight for FHS was Marie Teague making All-State! This Woodland 9th grader has class and style, a smile wide as a mile, and a promising future that'll carry her far. Good job, Marie!

Next year we'll start on time and push the goals we set for ourselves. Come back refreshed and ready to get with the program from the start. Learn from our past and move ahead with the new day. Life is for the learning.

Thanks for a great first year. Let's do it again next October. Stay in touch.

Hey Dawgs: Well, we gave Regionals a good try! The results weren't all that bad; time will allow me to put a merrier spin on the outcomes but let's just say for the first year we tried, we learned, and we want more!

Go to www.ahsaa.org for a complete posting of scores. Here are the numbers they gave me after competition.

Results:

Girls…..5 th place….76 pins behind N'side(4 th place)

Boys….6 th place…..208 pins behind N'side(4 th place) How did Cedarville get 5 th ?????

Those going to State as individuals:

Girls: Marie Teague, Kaleigh Harris, Lauren McAnarny, Kimberly Mayes

Boys: Matt Midgett, Taylor Wallner, Hayden Sherman

Bus leaves at 9:30 on Saturday, February 12, from the front of FHS. Anyone interested is welcome to come see us wrap up the season with our State bowlers. T-shirts provided and $5 for meals….what a bargain! (Donovan can wear his hat)

Senior Night is February 18. Get with me if you want to be recognized between basketball games. A lot of other FHS seniors, from various sports/activities, will be introduced too so let's get some recognition for your efforts. Dress casual-business (Donovan can wear his hat).

Should we have an award meal/party? We could meet/eat somewhere if you'd like. Let me know. I think it would be fun. (Donovan can wear his hat).

Look for updated info here. If we part at this point, remember that I had a great time being around y'all. I'd return again if you'd give me the honor!

Bowlin' Dawgs: I must admit, yesterday, I was about ready to quit coaching and just go ahead and apply for a Greeter job with Wal Mart. You were so baaaaaaad! And then…..pow!!!! pins dropped, Xs appeared on the scoreboards, Crispy got hot, Artie started talking smack, Kaleigh rolls 202, and then, and then, and then, Navid hits a 224. Wow, must be the coaching, right?

Bottom line is the capability of our team as we go to Regionals. I seriously doubt we can be beaten if we bowl our potential. Focus and execution will put us with a win in Fort Smith.

See you in front of FHS at 8:30. We are aiming to be back by 4:00 ish. I've got $5.00 for lunches (bring more $$ if you are hungrier than $5.00 worth of Big Macs). Wear khakis, shirts will be provided for all bowlers on the bus…..spread the word.

Bowlin' Dawgs: Just finished putting the latest scores onto the updated averages that I've been keeping. See them listed under AVERAGES on the web site.

The bold numbers are the top six per week. These are the ones I look at to create the divisions for Varsity & Junior Varsity. For Regionals it was easy for the girls since our numbers have dropped off. For the boys it was tough to cut at six.

Good/Bad news: Unfortunately only Varsity bowls. Fortunately we can put in new bowlers at the game breaks between matches. Therefore I'll have two or three extra guys to put up our best team for total pins out of the three matches we bowl. When it comes to the Baker games we'll use top five and keep them there.

Bowlers: Great turn out for both meetings thus far held at FHS. The format for AAAAA Bowling will be suited to accommodate as many interested athletes as possible. My goal will attempt to create an opportunity to serve as many bowlers as possible at FHS.

The 2004-2005 Arkansas High School Bowling Guidelines states:

IV. Team Structure

B.” …one boys team and one girls team for both varsity and junior varsity divisions (a total of four teams per school with six members per team) with the remaining students, if any, acting as substitutes…..” It goes on to suggest keeping three alternates and mentions elevating as deemed necessary.

FHS will offer three teams per gender. Varsity and Junior Varsity will be chosen by high averages working downward. Alternates will be chosen per averages of other players with the highest filling the available openings. Sophomore teams will be exclusive to the 10 th grade class level after V & JV teams have been chosen.

If the math works according to this scheme 45 bowlers will be considered viable contenders as competitions are created with participating schools. Nowhere is there mentioned sophomore teams. As a coach wanting young adults to get involved with the greatest sport ever the above is designed to meet as many attempts at being a team member for FHS as possible.

Like I said today upon being questioned per team structure, “I'll try my best to get as many bowling as I can. Nobody will be cut if they keep within team rules”. This means to get yourself bowling, create an attitude of having a good time, and enjoy your years at FHS.

Contact me as needed. See you at Ozarks Lanes, Wednesday, December 8, 4:00 pm. Go Bowlin' Dawgs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
