All Quiet on the Western
Front

Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque is a great
example of the hardships and trials of the World War I. The Western
Front divides Germany and Belgium from France. The book goes through
the life of a man named Paul from the beginning of the war till the time
of his death. Paul goes through a realization that the glory that
people at home give the war is not quite the situation.
This book is very suspenseful, frightening, and intriguing at times. The book explains about the many toxic gases that kill many people. The bombarding of the shells in the middle of the night made everyone feel more and more scared for their lives. This book was pretty easy to read, it was plain and the plot was easy to follow. The book was around 250 pages, but did not seem quite that long. This book would probably be more enjoyable to people that are interested in war stories, and historical books. This book has many examples and instances that happened in the actual war. All Quiet on the Western Front is a great book about the war and I recommend it for anyone interested in World War I. The characters are admirable and realistic. They are not the hero type men that will never die. These men work hard and make mistakes and try to defend their county the best way they know how. That in my opinion is honorable and heroic. |
