Dear Parent,

I would like to take this opportunity to acquaint you with what will be expected of your child in Algebraic Connections and what he/she can expect of me.

Your child will be given an assignment sheet for each testing period which will list all assignments, quizzes, projects, and tests with their due dates.  If your child is absent, this sheet will help him/her make up any missed work in a timely manner.  Also, all daily lecture notes and assignment keys are kept in a master notebook on my desk and are available for students to use at any time.  Most of the required work for this course will be done in class.  Occasionally, there will be homework - usually project work or make-up work due to an absence.

Please see the attached sheet for services that the math department offers all math students.  I am available for tutoring daily from 1:45 P.M. to 4:15 P.M., by appointment.  I will also be available during Activity period on the days when I do not have a meeting to attend.  Please encourage your child to seek help if he/she begins to have trouble.

I really enjoy teaching Algebraic Connections. Every nine weeks we look at a new topic and this helps to keep the math class fresh and the students' interest level high.  I believe the Probability and Statistics sections are of particular interest because of all the "hands-on" data gathering and analysis activities.

I am looking forward to working with your child this year.  Please let me know immediately in writing of any documented problems your child has that might prove a factor in her/his performance in this class.  Please feel free to call or email me with any concerns you may have regarding your child's progress in Algebraic Connections.  I look forward also to meeting with you at Open House on
