Dear Parent,

I would like to take this opportunity to acquaint you with what will be expected of your child in AP Statistics and what she/he can expect of me.

Your child will be given an assignment sheet for each chapter which will list all assignments, quizzes, projects, and tests with their due dates.  This sheet will also be published on my web site.  If your child is absent, this sheet will help her/him make up any missed work in a timely manner.  Also, all daily lecture notes and assignment keys are kept in a master notebook on my desk and are available for students to use at any time.  Your child will have a homework assignment every night.

Please see the attached sheet for services that the math department offers all math students.  I am available for tutoring every day from 1:45 P.M. to 4:15 P.M., by appointment.  Also, I will be available during activity period if I don't have a meeting to attend.  Please encourage your child to seek help if he/she begins to have trouble.

I really enjoy teaching AP Statistics.  I think the hands-on data gathering and analysis, and the real-worls applications used in the study of statistics are of great interest to students.  This may be the first math class they take where they don't ask the age-old question "When are we ever going to use this?"

I am looking forward to working with your child this year.  Please let me know immediately in writing of any documented problems your child has that might prove a factor in her/his performance in this class.  Please feel free to call or email me with any concerns you may have regarding your child's progress in AP Statistics.  I look forward also to meeting you at Open House on                                                              .
