Principles
and Standards for School Mathematics has been
produced by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
It builds on the ideas of three previous standards documents:
Curriculum and Evaluation
Standards for School Mathematics (1989) , Professional
Standards for Teaching Mathematics (1991), and Assessment
Standards for School Mathematics (1995).
Principles and Standards
for School Mathematics describe the mathematics students
should learn and provide guidelines for teaching mathematics,
as well as for assessing student progress.
