FPS Board of Education Round Table Meeting Schedule

The Fayetteville Board of Education will hold regular public meetings for patrons of the Fayetteville School District on the second Tuesday of each month, beginning on July 8th at 6pm in the Woodland Junior High School cafeteria. Entry into the WJHS cafeteria is through the main doors on the north end of the building.

The purpose of these meetings is to receive public comments on issues affecting the district. The first meeting will provide highlights of the recent and ongoing construction efforts at our schools (e.g., Asbell, Butterfield, Washington, Woodland and Adult Education), with a presentation by Fred Turrentine, Director of Physical Plant Services. Part of the first meeting will also be spent discussing the format and potential topics for future meetings. This first session will be led by Board member Tim Kring.

Subsequent meetings will be held on August 12*, Sept. 9, Oct. 14, Nov. 11, Dec. 9 in Woodland Junior High cafeteria (* The August 12 meeting will be held in the Large Group room at Woodland). Meetings will generally focus on one or two specific topics of broad interest to district patrons, followed by a period of time to allow public-board discussion of any items from the floor. Each meeting will be moderated by one or more board members, and the topic(s) for the subsequent month will be developed by attendees.

The intent of these meetings is to provide timely information to patrons regarding current district issues or those which require additional explanation (e.g., school district finance processes). Meetings will be held as long as they remain mutually beneficial for patrons and the district staff and board, as determined by consistent attendance and constructive dialogue.
