Rules:
1) Coach Matthews is ALWAYS right!
2) When in doubt refer to Rule #1
Expectations:
1) Ready to run every day; if the day ends in “Y” expect to run.
2) Tardy is later than 10 minutes after second bell; third Tardy = N for Citizenship grade and disciplinary action from Asst. Prin.
3) Academics come first. AAA rules are used to establish “play” criteria. Any athlete showing less than C in any class will be put on academic probation until grade improves. This could restrict competition dates resulting in grade reduction.
4) Citizenship is expected; show all athletes respect and fellowship. A Citizenship grade of N or U will result in punishment.
Grades:
1) All Fall semester athletes start the year with a grade of 50. Spring semester starts with 75 for a grade. Athletes will improve grades by attending ALL competitions and academic grades in Running. Non-dressed days will result in a five-point deduction from Running grade per day. The only way to not be penalized for non-dress is with a note from your physician. No PhD/EdD signatures allowed!
2) A Citizenship grade below S will result in a punishment of 25 laps of “towel drills” on the gym floor per low grade.
3) A U grade will result in termination from team outings, missed meet(s), and specific writing tasks for each class with low grade. Citizenship is a life-long characteristic vital in Running. Apply it daily.
Dress Code: Please look good and represent WJHS well. Dress for success and weather.
1) Uniform, provided, will be required at ALL competitions. Shirts will be tucked in at start of race, no sagging shorts, no rolled up shorts
2) Team shirt will cost $10, required. Looks great over singlet on race day and on pep rally days at school. Show your pride!
3) Team jacket/sweatshirt “hoodie” will cost $25. These look good all year!
4) Running shoes of your choice. Consult with coaches for specific style/type.
