RUNNING CLASS……………….Cross Country/Track

Objective: Upon completion of Running Class the athlete/learner will comprehend the merits of proper conditioning, training, and performance in prescribed curriculum areas of Cross Country and Track.

CROSS COUNTRY (XC): This running sport incorporates endurance, training, and competition aspects of distance running. The scope and premise is to become adept at running on natural terrain for distances up to 10k(6.214 miles). XC is considered a Fall sport.

TRACK: This aspect of Running Class incorporates running events only. The athlete will be introduced to sprints, distances, and relays. Specific coaching and training for events other than running will be offered by Coach Patrick, bpatrick@fayar.net or Coach Casto,DCasto@far.netTrack is considered a Spring sport.

Requirements: Athletes wishing to enroll in this elective class must tryout and receive coach’s permission to list on CAP forms. Dates of tryouts are noted on the Calendar page.

Any athlete wanting to run in either discipline may tryout for the team(s) without being enrolled in 7th period Running. Specific training routines and after school workouts will be given. Performance times will determine actual placement on team(s).
