TRACK: This sport culminates Running Class, second semester. Track has a very short season and must encompass all the previous areas taught through the first semester for XC. Little time means zero room for injury or setbacks. All the previous parts, stretching, diet, endurance, speed, and team dynamics, need to be in place quickly and thoroughly.
During Track season the girls will be under the head coaching duties of Debbie Casto. Shannon Sherman will lead the boys, 8th & 9th, with Greg Matthews handling all running events other than sprints and sprint relays for both girls and boys.
Upon the final meet for Regional Championship all athletes enrolled in Running return to daily classes with Coach Matthews. The finish of the year is general running and fun.
Coach Matthews will teach sprinting for 100m & 200m events leading up to preseason. From there the sprinters will attend to their own coach for specific training regimens. The other running events handled by Coach M are 400m dash, 800m run, 1600m run, and relays in 1600m(4x400) and 3200m(4x800) distances.
